Driver rebailed after crash which killed family

A TRUCKER arrested after the deaths of a family in a horror smash has been rebailed.

Destiny Reed, 14 months old, her mum Natalie Simpson, 18, of Houghton, and the baby’s great-grandfather Robert Reed, 75, died at the scene after their car and a lorry collided.

Mr Reed’s wife Margaret, 74, who had been in the front passenger seat died on May 18 in hospital.

The 42-year-old Hetton man, who had been driving the Volvo truck, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He attended Durham City Police Station yesterday where he was rebailed.
