Driver question by police after Sunderland accident

A MAN needed hospital treatment after being hit by a car.

The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident in Somerset Cottages, Silksworth.

Paramedics called police and the injured man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

A 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.

Police were called to the scene just before 2am on Saturday.

Elsewhere, two women, a child and a man were taken to hospital after a crash in Durham City.

Two vehicles collided near Leazes Bowl roundabout in Durham just before 9pm yesterday.

The two women had to be cut free from their cars by firefighters.
