A MAN had to be cut free from his car after a crash at a junction.

The 47-year-old had just left his house in Shotton Colliery, when his Peugoet 205 was involved in a collision with a Honda Civic on Trotter Terrace.

Firefighters were called out at 4.50pm on Tuesday, and had to cut the roof from his car after he sustained head, hip and leg injuries.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
