DRIVERS and passengers had to be cut free from their cars after two collisions.
Emergency services were called to the A19 near Burdon, in Sunderland, yesterday at about 5.35pm after two Hyundais and a Land Rover Discovery crashed.
Fire crews had to cut the driver of one of the Hyundais free. He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with spinal injuries.
The driver and passengers of the other cars were uninjured.
At about 6.50pm, a woman, 38, and two girls, aged nine and 12, were travelling along the A19 in a Mini when it careered into a tree, near the Peterlee roundabout.
The 12-year-old had to be cut free from the car and was taken to hospital with spinal injuries.
