FIREFIGHTERS had to cut a driver free from his car after a smash in Sunderland.
Crews had to remove the roof from a Vauxhall Corsa, after it was involved in a collision with a Toyota Celica at North Moor Road, Plains Farm.
The incident happened at about 5.45pm on Saturday.
After being freed, the driver of the Corsa was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with suspected chest and neck injuries.
The Celica driver was not injured.
