A DRIVER was taken to hospital after his car smashed into a road sign.
The 19-year-old had been driving up Hylton Road in Sunderland before turning into St Mark’s Road when the VW Corsa spun out of control.
Paramedics and firefighters were at the scene at 2.48pm on Saturday.
Crew manager Peter Wilson, from Sunderland Central fire station, said: “The man was complaining of injuries to his neck so paramedics cut the roof of the vehicle in order to help get to him.”
The injured driver was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
