Dog rescued from cliff face in Marsden

A rescue mission was launched after a dog got stuck halfway down a cliff in Marsden.

Whilst on local area patrol Sunderland Coastguard Rescue team were tasked to the Redwell bank area of Marsden after reports of a dog stuck halfway down the cliff.

They requested backup from the rest of the team and from South Shields VLB.

The dog was located half way down an embankment and a rope rescue was carried out with effort from both teams and the dog was successfully rescued.

The dog had ran off after being hit by a car, and with no owner rescuers took the dog to an emergency vets in Felling where it would be looked after and make attempts to find the owner.

Senior Coastal Operations Officer from Hartlepool also attended.
