Do you have what it takes to win a Best of Wearside award?

After clinching the Best of Wearside award for her fundraising efforts, it would have easy for Tara Middleton to rest on her laurels.

No chance.

If anything, it spurred our Fundraiser of the Year winner onto greater things.

Last year, charity champ Tara earned her awards after raising more than £9,100 for Macmillan cancer care in memory of her mother.

An impressive effort in anyone’s book, but since then she’s more than doubled that amount!

As we reveal today, Tara has topped £26,000 in cash for charity and shows no sign of letting up in her ambitions.

While we’re in no way claiming credit for her achievement, being recognised by the community for doing great things certainly plays a part in inspiring individuals.

It’s half the reason why we set up our Best of Wearside awards in the first place.

There are so many people doing great things in our community without ever receiving the credit they deserve.

You probably know someone going above and beyond the call of duty. If you do, get nominating.

We want everyone doing their bit to better our community to be acknowledged and praised for their efforts. We think it makes a difference.

But don’t just take our word for it, let Tara tell you why it’s such a good thing.

She said: “I would definitely encourage people to enter the competition because it’s a great feeling to be recognised for your achievements in making a difference to other people lives. It truly was an honour just to be nominated.”

Tara isn’t resting on her laurels and neither should you. Get nominating today.
