Details revealed for International Games Day in Hartlepool
The annual event – which this year will see more than 2,000 libraries around the world taking part – offers gamers an opportunity to come and see what their local library has to offer.
Hartlepool Central Library has teamed up with tea@HART, a tearoom and games shop on York Road, to organise a Games Marathon to mark the big day.

Hide AdThe fun takes place at Hartlepool Central Library on Saturday between 10am and 2pm with a number of traditional games and continues once the library closes at tea@HART with a wide range of traditional and modern games.
Jackie Johnson, Hartlepool Borough Council Library Officer, said: “Playing games together is a way to encourage speech, learning and social skills for both adults and children.
“There’s a fantastic social experience in modern board and card games. It’s an easy way to get to know new people and you don’t have to worry about making small-talk – the game in front of you will hold your attention during silences. However, it’s impossible to spend an hour at a table with someone without getting to know them a little bit better!
“Since 2010, board game sales have been increasing annually and a number of creative and unusual games have been produced – breathing new life into a hobby once dominated by Monopoly and Scrabble.”
Everyone in welcome at this free event. Contact Hartlepool Central Library for further details on (01429) 272905, or email [email protected]
