Passengers travelling to work on the Metro this morning are facing delays following a "minor power trip" on the service.
A spokesman for Nexus confirmed that there was a "trip" shortly after 8am, as a Metro was between Hebburn and Gateshead Stadium stations.
The driver has to go through a number of checks, he said, before restarting the service. Following this procedure, the affected train was back on the move at 8.15am.
The incident, which affected the line at Pelaw, lasted for around 11 minutes.
The spokesman continued: "This has caused minor delays to the service.
"Trains are running again to all destinations, with the largest gap between two trains at about 15 minutes in the Benton area.
"There is a frequent service, but trains won't be running to timetable."
At 8.45am, @My_Metro tweeted that there were delays of up to 25 mins at Pelaw and Airport and The Coast, and delays of up to 25 mins at Pelaw and South Shields and South Hylton areas.
Nexus also apologised for the delays to people's journeys.
