A NORTH East butcher has created a limited-edition pork pie for Valentine’s Day.
Dicksons’ first introduced the product last year to capitalise on its popularity among male customers.
The firm, which has stores in Sunderland, reported that sales of pork pies increased by 40 per cent in two days.
Bosses at the company now hope this year’s heart-shaped encrusted pork pies will get the tills ringing after introducing them for the week leading up to Valentine’s Day.
Elena Dickson, product development and marketing manager at the company, said the pies were proving a big success with customers.
“It’s a well-known fact that the way to man’s heart in particular is through his stomach, and our pork pie, packed full with quality British shoulder pork and enveloped in delicious crisp, water-based pastry, is hugely popular with our male customers,” she said.
“The heart-shaped addition just gives it that romantic edge and we are confident it will be a real hit once again this Valentine’s Day. The family even enlisted family members for the poster campaign.”
