FAMILIES of fallen soldiers are organising a special event to mark their continuing work across Sunderland.

For five years, Brothers in Arms has been supporting the city’s servicemen and women.

The charity, which was originally established to raise money to build the memorial wall which now stands in Mowbray Park, has gone from strength to strength and continues its work to help those affected by war.

To mark the fifth anniversary of its work, a black tie dinner will be held at the Roker Hotel.

Tom Cuthbertson, whose son Nathan was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan, said: “This dinner will mark the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Sunderland Memorial Wall.”

The event will take place on Sunday, December 1.

Tickets priced at £25 per head are now on sale.
