Dealer jailed for drugs and extreme porn stash

Edward Brown was exposed as a supplier when an intoxicated woman told police she had bought drugs from him last summer.When officers searched his Wearside home, they found packs of cocaine worth around £100 and cannabis bags worth up to £800.Tell-tale text messages found on the 31-year-old's mobile phone revealed a background of dealing in drugs.Brown, of Finsbury Street, Sunderland, admitted possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.He also pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornography, which was found on his phone.Judge Tim Gittins sentenced him to two-and-a-half years behind bars at Newcastle Crown Court today.The judge said once drugs are on the streets, users could mix them with other substances or take them in unknown quantities.Judge Gittins told him: "You have no idea, ultimately, what effect these drugs may have on those involved and it can result in serious injury or death."Brown admitted he had been selling for around 12 months, on the orders of a dealer he had built up a £3,000 drugs debt of his own with.Brown refused to tell detectives who he was working for, which Judge Gittins said he understood but told him: "You take the penalty while others remain at large. "The court heard the extreme pornography charges relate to six films found on Brown's phone, which contained images of beastiality and injury being caused to private parts.Judge Gittins said he accepted Brown had the images for humorous, not sexual, purposes.The judge told him: "They were undoubtedly sent to you in a more humorous way rather than for sexual gratification but they are extremely unpleasant."Whatever the purpose of having them, it is a criminal offence to have them. "The judge added: "I suspect that is the last the courts will see of you in relation to that sort of offending."Barry Robson, defending, said Brown had forgot he had the images on his phone and had been sent them as a joke.Mr Robson said Brown's drug dealing was to fund his own drug use, which he has now put in the past and has hopes to start his own business when he gets out of jail.The court heard Brown has never been to prison before.
