A POPULAR retail park could be in contention for honours after it was praised for its atmosphere and range of outlets.

Dalton Park has been nominated for a What’s On Where award and the news has delighted officials at the East Durham venue.

Marketing manager Louise Thompson said: “We are delighted to be nominated for Best Shopping Experience in the Sunderland Echo What’s on Where Awards.”

“Our commitment is to offer top brands at the best prices and we hope this coupled with great customer service ensures a first-class shopping experience for all our visitors.

“At Dalton Park we have always enjoyed fantastic support from our community and, thanks to them, the centre continues to go from strength to strength.

“So once again we would like to recognise the support from our customers and thank them for this wonderful nomination.”

The awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7.

They aim to reward the elite in everything from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.

We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page.

They are Restaurant of the year; Entertainer of the year; Show/Performance of the Year; Pub of the Year; Social Club of the Year; Night Club of the Year; Recreation facility/children’s venue of the Year; Takeaway of the Year; Park/Community Area of the Year; Contribution to Culture; Lifetime Achievement Award; Hotel/Guest House of the Year; Best Shopping Experience.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, February 5.

Then the judges will draw up a shortlist from all of the fantastic contenders that we have received in recent weeks.

We will reveal the winners on February 26 in a glittering finale at the Best Western Roker Hotel.
