A DAD has been ordered to stay away from the mother of his child after she complained that he made unwanted approaches when she was out shopping.

Sunderland magistrates have ordered Gary Hull, 41, to have no contact with his ex-partner under an indefinite restraining order, and that he does not go into the street where she lives with their son.

Hull denied harassing the woman by approaching her in Aldi and in Sunderland city centre in November, and prosecutor Ian Simpson instead opted to apply for a restraining order, which was granted by the bench.

Hull, of Colchester Terrace, Barnes, was issued with a police information notice (PIN) in September warning him to stay away from the woman, who claimed he had been harassing her.

Mr Simpson said the relationship had ended some months earlier, but Hull is said to have kept approaching her, asking to see his son over Christmas.

Anna Haq, defending, said: “We have to make it clear that Mr Hull has pleaded not guilty to the offences. However, he does accept a restraining order.

“He understands from these proceedings that she wants no contact with him except through a third party to see their son.”
