ENTRIES are now open for people wanting to take part in the Active Sunderland BIG Bike Ride 2015.
Hundreds of cyclists are expected to sign up for the event, which takes place on the weekend of June 13 and 14.

A number of routes and distances are planned, suitable for everyone from children and families to more experienced cycling enthusiasts.
Sunderland City Council’s portfolio holder for public health, wellness and culture, Councillor John Kelly said: “The rides are a great way to get active and have fun with your friends and family. Whatever your age or ability we would love to see as many people as possible taking part.”
On Saturday, June 13, the five mile route is on traffic-free paths within Herrington Country Park. It is ideal for beginner cyclists and families with younger children. Registration is from 9am and the ride starts at 10am. It costs £3 per person.
On Sunday, June 14, cyclists have the choice of three distances of 14, 20 or 35 miles covering large parts of Sunderland. All of the rides start and finish at the University of Sunderland’s Sir Tom Cowie Campus on St Peter’s Riverside.
Sunday registration is from 8am and riders start at 9.30am. Prices for all Sunday rides are £6 for adults and £4 for under 16s.
