Here are some more pictures of Sunderland Illuminations which have been switched on over the weekend.
Crowds enjoyed a fantastic laser display air and ground entertainment as the seafront in Sunderland once again played host to arguably the largest lighting event in the region.
Special guest and ambassador for Sunderland, Lauren Laverne joined leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Watson to bring to life a spectacular array of Alice in Wonderland installations and exciting new features such as a sea of stars, the Tardis and a Dalek.
The city’s award winning seafront will be transformed into a colourful wonderland with a bigger and better lighting display than ever until Sunday, November 1.
Ms Laverne said: “It’s great to be back home. This is an amazing spectacle and something the city and the region should be proud of.
“As an ambassador for the city I have the opportunity to tell the people I meet how fantastic Sunderland is. When you think of the Sunderland Airshow, Illuminations, bid for city of culture and of course the Tall Ships Races in 2018 people can see what a great place our city is.”
