Woman dragged into car

Have your say

POLICE have widened their search for a woman who was last seen being dragged into a car outside a pub in Sunderland.

A couple were seen arguing in a grey car outside the Ivy House at about 2.20pm on Sunday. The woman then got out and walked off down a rear lane behind Alice Street.

The man drove after her and witnesses say they heard a thud and a woman’s scream.

He was then seen dragging the woman back into the car, which is believed to be an old- style Honda Civic or similar.

Police have not received any missing person reports matching the woman’s description.

Detectives are now investigating the possibility the car could have come from outside the Sunderland area and have released CCTV of the car on the street, and would like to hear from anyone who knows what happened.

The man was white, in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall and of thin to medium build. He had short blond spiky hair, and was wearing a dark top and jeans with large back pockets. The woman is also white, in her early 20s, about 5ft 8ins and slim with dark shoulder-length hair and was wearing a cream jacket or top and dark jeans or trousers.

Anyone with information that could help with inquiries should call Northumbria Police on 101.
