Woman charged with aggravated burglary

A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of aggravated burglary of a pensioner’s home.

A 77-year-old woman was allegedly threatened at knife-point in her home in Queen Alexandra Road, Dawdon, East Durham.

She was left shaken but not injured.

The incident happened on Sunday night.

Tracy York has been charged with the offence.

The 25-year-old, of Wynyard Street, Dawdon, did not enter a plea when she appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

She was remanded until her next appearance, which will be at Durham Crown Court on Wednesday, August 15.

Durham Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, or anyone with information to come forward.
