A WOMAN has appeared at crown court accused of starting a house fire in Sunderland.

Kelly Rock is charged with arson with intent to endanger life after the blaze at Hendon Burn Avenue, Sunderland, on March 16.

The 36-year-old appeared at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, by videolink from HMP Low Newton, where she was not asked to enter a plea.

Rock, of Hendon Burn Avenue, spoke only to confirm her name during the short hearing and will be back in court on June 24. A trial, which could last two days, will take place on July 13.

Mr Recorder James Baird told her: “In the meantime, you will remain in custody.”

No bail application was made.
