A THIRD woman has had her bag snatched in less than a week.

A 28-year-old woman became the third victim after a thug came from behind and grabbed her handbag as she walked along the mineral line at Chester Road, in Eden Vale at about 11am yesterday.

The man ran off from Eden House in the direction of Durham Road. The attacker is described as black, of medium build and had short black hair. He was wearing jeans, a round neck navy t-shirt and white trainers.

Police are keen to trace the woman’s bag, which is a brown leather satchel with a thick strap.

The bag snatch is the third in the Chester Road area since Monday, when a 71-year-old woman was targeted as she walked in the Cleveland Road alley behind the Spar shop.

On Wednesday, an 88-year-old had her handbag stolen as she walked along Chester Road.

Police are not at this stage linking the latest theft with the other two.
