A DAD who pooled resources with pals to buy cocaine for a party has been jailed.
Marlon Manning, of Hillside Drive, Whitburn, was tasked to buy the group’s supply and then distribute it at a do they were attending for a friend going away for Christmas.
But the married dad-of-four was collared carrying the drugs at the Ocean Lounge pub, in South Shields.
Newcastle Crown Court heard door staff contacted the police because they thought he was acting suspiciously.
When officers arrived at the bar, Manning, 32, had two plastic bags of cocaine in his pocket and had tried to hide 29 more in a toilet brush holder in the gents.
The value of the drugs was around £840.
Manning, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply last November.
Tony Hawks, mitigating, said Manning was a respected house-husband who looks after his children while his wife works as a nurse.
Mr Hawks handed in references to Manning’s positive character, adding: “It was not a drug deal or being involved in a commercial capacity.
“He was simply the man who went out and bought the drugs that were to be shared.”
However, Judge Rachel Hudson jailed Manning for 16 months.
