Washington woman charged with assualt

A WASHINGTON woman will appear before magistrates after an incident which left a woman critically ill.

On Monday, police were called to a house at Waskerley Road in Barmston after reports a fight had broken out.

A 44-year-old was found with serious head injuries.

She was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where she remains in what police have described as a critical but stable condition.

Joanne Johnson, 45, of Barmston Way, Washington, has now been charged with assault.

She will appear at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court later this month.
