Washington attacker threw noxious substance in victim’s face in one of two violent assaults

Police are hunting the perpetrators of two separate attacks in Washington which left the victims needing medical treatment.

The violent assaults both occurred in Sulgrave on the evening of Monday, Septembers 21, and officers are not ruling out that they may be linked.

The first victim suffered a head injury after he was attacked just before 9pm in Silverstone Road, Banbury.

It is thought he was approached by four men, possibly in their early twenties, who assaulted him.

He was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

The second incident happened between 9pm and 9.50pm at the back of Rock Terrace, when a 26-year-old man had a noxious substance thrown in his face. He received medical treatment for minor injuries.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At this stage it is not known whether or not the incidents are linked, however due to close proximity of the incidents officers are not ruling out that they might be.”
