THIEVES stole a mobile phone after distracting hairdressing staff.
The incident happened at a salon just off Durham Road in Sunderland on Wednesday.
It took place shortly after a similar incident when a phone was stolen at a South Shields chartered surveyor’s office.
Detective Sergeant Ed Hedley said: “We want to remind people to always keep their personal belongings in a secure and safe place.
“Anyone working in a business open to the public should make sure they don’t leave items such as mobile phones or purses and wallets in view of people coming in to the office or shop.”
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft.
