A MAN was rushed to hospital after a late-night street attack.
A 44-year-old man, of Chester-le-Street, was attacked by at least two men in town’s Market Place on Saturday, at about midnight.
He was beaten about the head and face and left slumped on the ground.
Members of the public came to the victim’s aid and he was taken to the University Hospital North Durham with severe facial injuries.
One man was arrested on the night, but police still need to trace a second man.
He is described as being in his late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 10in tall, with dark hair.
