Victim in hospital with stab wounds

A MAN is recovering in hospital today after being found with stab wounds.

Police were called to a lane at the rear of Westwood Street in Pallion, by paramedics shortly before 9pm on Friday and found a 20-year-old man with wounds to his back and shoulder.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where his condition is described as “stable.”

Detective Sergeant Kevin Dipper said: “It is believed the victim was inside premises at Whitehall Terrace when he was assaulted.

“At this stage, it is believed that all those involved are known to each other.

“An investigation is under way and we are appealing for anyone who saw two males, aged between 15 and 20, in the area at around the time of the incident.”
