Valuable sun dial stolen from Sunderland garden

POLICE are appealing for help to trace a valuable sun dial stolen in Sunderland.

It happened between noon on Monday, May 5, and 2pm on Friday, May 9, at Thomas Hawksley Park in Plains Farm, when a sun dial was stolen from a rear garden.

The stolen sun dial is a distinctive brass Grande Armillary Sundial Ensemble, 56 inches tall, and worth hundreds of pounds.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen sundial is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 908 09/05/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are currently running Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling opportunist thieves and burglars across the force.
