Two people bailed as machete raiders strike in Hebburn

TWO men have been bailed pending further inquiries after an aggravated burglary in South Tyneside on Friday.

At just after 7.40pm, police received a report of three men, one armed with a machete, forcing their way into a flat in Lindisfarne Road, Hebburn.

The men forced open the front door but were unable to get any further into the property via an internal door.

The three, all wearing dark clothing, made off empty-handed in the direction of Finchale Road and Elmfield Road. No one was hurt.

Police arrested two men, aged 41 and 25, on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
