Two men arrested after Sunderland burglaries

TWO men have been charged with burglary in Sunderland.

Police arrested the men after reports of a affray at a block of flats in Park Place West at about 22.5pm on Monday November 25.

Officers carried out enquiries and established that two burglaries had taken place in the building.

The pair were arrested and suspected stolen property was recovered.

Kevin James Coates, 36, of Park Place West, in Sunderland and Clinton Ruddy, 29, of no fixed address, have been charged with two burglaries at Park Place West and an affray at the same location.

Coates has also been charged with cultivating cannabis. He appeared at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 26. Ruddy was due to appear today, Wednesday, November 27.

Neighbourhood Inspector Jamie Southwell said: “When officers attended it was established two properties had been burgled. I’d like to reassure people that two men have now been charged with these offences and are going through the court process.

“We continue to do everything possible to take action against those suspected of being involved in burglary and operations are taking place in the area to prevent offences from taking place in the run up to Christmas.”
