Two in court after burglary at a Sunderland store

POLICE have charged two men after a burglary at a Sunderland store.

The burglary happened at 4.08am yesterday at the Co-op, on North Moor Road, Plains Farm.

Entry was forced to the store and a quantity of cigarettes stolen.

Mark Riddell, 32, of Felstead Square, Sunderland, and Carl Bryan, 25, of no fixed abode, have been charged with burglary. They were due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today.

A 36-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of burglary has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The charges come as Northumbria Police continues to target opportunist thieves as part of Operation Soundwave.
