Two charged with suspected false imprisonment and GBH after woman, 23, stabbed

A man and a woman have been charged with suspected false imprisonment, robbery and grievous bodily harm after a woman was stabbed during an incident in Chester le Street.

Neil Wright, 44, and Leanne Pope, 39, have been charged with suspected false imprisonment, robbery and grievous bodily harm following an incident in The Crescent, Chester-le-Street at the weekend.

The pair, both of The Crescent, have been remanded in custody after appearing at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 2.

They will appear at Durham Crown Court on Friday, March 13.

A 23-year-old woman sustained stab wounds which required hospital treatment.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything relating to this incident in The Crescent in the early hours of March 1.

Witnesses are asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 30 of March 1.
