A MAN is today in hospital after being stabbed at a house in Sunderland.

Police received a report from the ambulance service at 1.20am today that a man has cuts to his arm at an address in Eden House Road, just off Durham Road.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment, where he remains.

His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Police arrested two men, aged 32 and 49, on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievious bodily harm.

Both are still helping officers with their inquiries, and a knife has been recovered by police.

Investigations are continuing and officers are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.

Detective Sergeant Simon Auty, from Northumbria Police’s major crime team, said: “I’d like to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“We have officers on patrol, and anyone with concerns should speak to them.

“Anyone with any information on the incident should also come forward.”
