Two arrested after aggravated Sunderland burglary

TWO men have been arrested after a man was allegedly threatened during a burglary in Sunderland.

The incident happened at 7.20am on Saturday in Shepherd Street, Millfield.

Two men, armed with a hammer and knife, forced entry into the house and threatened the occupant – a 20 year old man – before damaging a car as they left.

Three cars were also damaged in nearby Neville Street.

The 20-year-old received hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Two men - aged 21 and 22 - have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and released on police bail.

Weapons were recovered nearby.

Police are asking anyone who has any information, particularly about the car damage, to contact them.
