A two-day trial of a Sunderland man accused of harassing city MP Julie Elliott has been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the court has said the case will now not go ahead as planned due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The hearing and has been sent on to a ‘holding court’ where legal advisors will look to find a new date for the trial.

At the last session, held in February at the same court, District Judge David Kitson gave Lowther unconditional bail ahead of the trial date.
