A TEEN who allegedly hurled bricks at police who confronted him and a gang of underage boozers is to stand trial.

It is also claimed the 17-year-old snatched back a bottle of wine which officers had confiscated.

The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Sunderland Youth Court on Thursday.

He pleaded not guilty to a public order offence and theft, both of which are alleged to have taken place on August 16.

Magistrates remanded him in custody until his trial, which will take place at the city court next Thursday.
