Trial date set after Sunderland street attack

TWO men will face trial next month over a street attack.

Jed Barry and Ryan Chatterjee are accused of causing serious injuries to Daniel Raine during an incident in the early hours of June 16.

During a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, via videolink to HMP Durham, both men pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding with intent.

They will now be tried by a jury. Barry also denied having a bladed article, a knife. Chatterjee denied a charge of having an offensive weapon, a kosh.

They will be tried by a jury on September 23.

Barry, 19, of Fordfield Road, Ford Estate, and Chatterjee, 23, of Tamworth Square, Thorney Close, both Sunderland were remanded in custody until their next appearance.
