A TRIAL date has been set for a 50-year-old man accused of a series of sex assaults on a girl.

Richard Waddle, of Dalton Avenue, Seaham, faces seven charges of indecent assault and two of sexually touching a girl under 16 years.

The offences are alleged to have been carried out between 2000 and 2006.

Waddle appeared at Durham Crown Court for trial, but prosecutor Gavin Doig said there was insufficient court time, so a new trial date was set for August 20 and bail granted.
