THREE people have been arrested after a bus ploughed into a Sunderland home.

Police were called to Merle Terrace, Pallion, after a single decker bus crashed into the terraced property just after 5pm, yesterday.

It is thought the crash happened after a Renault Clio collided with the bus causing it to veer off the road.

Three men aged 17, 18 and 22 have been arrested and are currently in custody helping police with their inquiries.

Tom Dodds, stakeholder manager for Go North East, said: “Shortly after 5pm today a 25-seat bus on service 99 towards Silksworth was in a collision with a car in Pallion, Sunderland, then subsequently struck a house. There were a number of people on board the bus who, together with our driver, received treatment from paramedics.”

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191. Callers are asked to quote reference 831 120515.
