A THIRD person is due to appear in court today charged with the murder of a Sunderland man.

Stuart Bycroft Smith, 42, from Houghton will appear at Sunderland Magistrates Court charged with the murder of John Anthony Hall.

Paul Ian Tate, 48, of Cambridge Road, Silksworth, and Nicholas John Rought, 45, of Princess Street, Shiney Row, were previously charged with murder and the cases against them have been adjourned until next week and both are remanded in custody.

The body of Mr Hall, a 46-year-old grandfather, known as Jonty, was found in Marks Lane, West Rainton, on Sunday, September 15.

Detectives say the father-of-two died from multiple injuries and have carried out extensive inquiries in the Shiney Row area in a bid to build up a picture of Mr Hall’s final movements.
