MOTORISTS in Sunderland are being urged by police to help drive down crime.
The advice comes comes after opportunist thieves have taken items from cars and garages left unlocked.
Neighbourhood Inspector Tony Carty said: “Most thieves are opportunists– if they see a door that’s unlocked, it’s too easy. By simply locking their doors, motorists will reduce the chance of someone breaking in and help stop themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
“Our advice is to never leave anything of value on display, and to always close windows and the sun roof when they leave the car.”
