Thief went on crime spree to fund habit

A woman went on a shoplifting crime spree to fund her heroin habit.

 Kayleigh Trainer snatched £671 worth of goods during four raids at stores in South Tyneside.

 The 28-year-old, of Warwick Court, Gateshead, admitted four counts of shop theft at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

 She snatched Olay face cream worth £64 from Wilko in South Tyneside on February 25 and aftershave gift sets valued at £45 from the same store on May 20.

 On May 19, she stole £80 of whisky from Asda before taking £482 worth of food and drink from the same supermarket on June 2.

 Maimuna Bappa, prosecuting, said: “In police interview, she accepted she intended to steal the goods to sell on to feed her heroin habit.”

 Magistrates adjourned sentencing until today for a probation report to be prepared.
