POLICE are hunting vandals after cars in Washington had their tyres damaged.

Ten cars parked in the Mandeville, Langdale, Swirral Edge, Hertburn Gardens, Cotswold Close areas had their tyres punctured between Friday, January 2, and Monday, January 5.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Stewart said: “We believe these offences have taken place some time between the Friday and the Monday, and happened overnight.

“We want to speak to anyone who has seen anybody suspicious in the areas where the damage took place, especially anyone seen hanging around cars.

“I’d also ask anyone with private CCTV in these areas to check their footage and see if anything has been caught on camera.

“If you think you have any information that could help us, please get in touch.

“We have extra officers in the area carrying out patrols and speaking to local residents.

“I’d urge anyone with any information to speak to officers face to face or by ringing 101.”

Anyone with any information about the slashing spree can contact police on 101, ext 69191.
