Teenager left with head injuries after Sunderland assault

A TEENAGER is today recovering after an early morning assault.

The 19-year-old suffered head injuries after being attacked in Tay Road, Thorney Close, at about 1.30am yesterday.

It is believed that a group – travelling in a white Qashqai – stopped a white Mercedes car before launching the attack.

The victim was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital suffering from head injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

A 19-year-old and 23-year-old have been arrested following the incident.

Police said they are keen to speak to a third man.

Both parties are believed to know each other.
