A TEENAGER has been arrested after a pet cat was savaged to death in Sunderland.

The 17-year-old boy is helping police with their inquiries after Tilly the cat was killed in Stockley Avenue, Wear View.

Police are continuing to investigate the attack, thought to have involved a lurcher dog, on September 19, in conjunction with the RSPCA.

The Echo told this week how Tilly’s owner Alexandra Samuels only recently took in the cat after her mother’s sudden death less than two months ago, aged 55.

She said: “She was just such a lovely cat. She was really old and a little bit senile.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
