Teen hit over the head with a bottle in Durham attack

A TEENAGER suffered head injuries after being hit over the head with a bottle.

 The 17-year-old was making his way to portable toilets near the banks of the River Wear at Durham University cricket ground during the Durham Miners’ Gala when another man smashed the bottle over his head.

 The youth, from the Chester-le-Street area, was taken to hospital where he received several stitches to head wounds.

 The attacker is described as being aged about 17, 6ft 1in tall and slim.

 Police investigating the attack believe there will have been a number of people who saw it take place on Saturday, July 9, between 2pm and 3pm.
