Sword man arrested in Sunderland

A SWORD-WIELDING attacker has been arrested after a brawl in a Sunderland street.

 The 36-year-old was spotted brandishing the sword in the Long Streets area of Hendon on Wednesday evening.

 Officers were called to Cairo Street at 9.50pm, after one man allegedly swung the sword at another man in the street.

 Police made an arrest as neighbours looked on.

 A 21-year-old man is understood to have sustained minor injuries in the attack.

 A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been questioned by officers.”
