Sunderland woman banned after admitting being over four times the drink-drive limit
A Sunderland woman has been banned from the roads and could be jailed after giving an “incredibly high” breath test reading.
Lisa Middleton, 41, was caught at over four times the limit at the wheel of her VW Polo in Thompson Road, High Southwick.
A breath test showed Middleton, of Stafford Grove, Ryhope, had 163 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Court clerk Linda Carr told magistrates in South Tyneside: “It’s an incredibly high reading.”
The court heard Middleton was stopped by police on Sunday, April 18, but no other details of her offence were given.
She pleaded guilty to a charge of drink-driving – and magistrates adjourned the case for an all options report, meaning jail is a possibility.
They also handed her an interim driving ban until she is sentenced at the same court on Friday, August 20.
Middleton was granted unconditional bail.
