Sunderland teenager suffers head injury in iPhone 4 mugging

A SCHOOLBOY was taken to hospital after he was injured in a violent street robbery.

The 14-year-old was attacked by three young men shortly after 9pm on Friday.

He had been walking on a grassed area at Galley’s Gill, Gillbridge, Sunderland, when he was followed two teenagers and a man.

The boy was punched in the face, with the force knocking him off his feet, and his white iPhone 4 and cash were stolen.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment for a minor injury to his head, but has now been discharged. Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery, or who was in the area at the time.

Both of the younger attackers are described as being around 15 years old and 5ft 10in tall.

One is of medium build, with brown hair, while the other is skinny with blond or ginger hair.

The man is described as in his 20s, between 5ft 10in and 5ft 11in tall, of athletic build and with dark hair.
