Lee Fairley, 31, of Redwood Grove, Silksworth, Sunderland, made the claim in an “electronic communication” sent to Northumbria Police on May 29.
He has been jailed for six weeks after South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, in South Shields, deemed the offence “so serious” that “a non-custodial sentence cannot be justified”.

Fairley, who admitted breaching the Malicious Communications Act by “verbally making threats to stab various members of the public”, was given credit for his guilty plea.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and prosecution costs of £85.
The £213 total will be paid at a rate of £5 a week from the middle of October.
